In recognition of the fact that many users may not relish the prospect of
opening their computer and replacing the operating system ROMs, RISCOS Ltd
has put in place the Authorised Installer network of approved
experts capable of safely installing and upgrading RISC OS computer systems.
Authorised Installers exist throughout the UK, and in many other countries. The links below will take you to pages giving you details of your nearest Installer. Authorised Installers will have attended training session(s) to ensure their familiarity with the scheme, RISC OS 4 and its installation.
Not only will Authorised Installers be able to install RISC OS 4 for you, but they will also be able to safely reformat your hard disc to the new RISC OS 4 F+ format, and restore your data onto the drive. Many Installers will offer additional backup services, and be able to provide new hard discs, CD drives, memory and other peripherals as well.
You should be aware that Installation is invariably a chargeable service, but this is unlikely to be more than around £40, assuming no difficulties. RISCOS Ltd do not fix a price for this service. Please note that costs may vary depending on the complexity of the upgrade process - 8 slice heavily loaded RISC PCs will obviously take more time to upgrade than an unexpanded A7000!
